Just thought I throw up a couple of pictures to look at, talk about a little maybe. Hope the camera is working or a fix is in the works. If I buy a new one while I'm here... . Though greedy in a sense, I've certainly taken note of the feature improvements I'll need on a new camera.
I took this photo a while ago on a trip to an agricultural community of earthen buildings. The authentic ambiance was heavily diluted by tourist-directed commerce, but I did manage to get something that I thought could go in a National Geographic somewhere. I think it turned out pretty cool. The settings were almost spot on when I took the first shot. Didn't have much tinkering to do after that. Pretty lucky. Though I have to say the best picture from the trip goes to one of my students with a shiny new Canon compact. She's got a shot of a colorfully clad Chinese boy doing a gongfu pose. The up-close, full frame of the shot is perfect and all the colors mesh really well. I'm jealous. Maybe I can get a copy from her so you can see it.
Anyway, whaddya think of this one?

I took this one while I was waiting for delivery one night. It's pretty much the only way I get food. Each restaurant has their delivery boy and you get to chat it up with them when you pay for your food. You can get in a certain rhythm with one if you order consitently from the same place (which I do: The other day a restauraunt comped my meal because I didn't have anything smaller than a 100RMB note) and know just when to walk to the streetcorner for a rendesvous.
I remember arguing/discussing some pan photos from Photography a few months ago in a prior life. It took me a while to get myself turing at the right speed, but these things zip around everywhere so I had a steadily flowing river of practice subjects. Unfortunately I think the light in the front seems to be blurred in some way that makes the pattern of movement discontinuous in the photo. The way the light is blurred seems unnatural, or some forensic bullshit, but it's just a glow from the basket on the front - the light isn't really blurred at all. So I think it would be better if the light weren't a little funky.
So again, thought I'd throw some photos up and make something outta this!
